We are happy to announce improvements via our Protection Platform journey for those living with HIV.

Following consultation with our insurer partners, we have collectively agreed to introduce 9 questions specific to HIV.

The new questions – available on all new applications from Monday 20th November – cover a range of criteria, including the use of antiretroviral medication, CD4 count, viral load and confirmation of whether HIV is detectable or not.

Such disclosures will give our insurer partners more information than ever before via the Protection Platform and, subject to the disclosures meeting certain criteria, will allow them to consider terms for life cover, potentially without the need for further medical evidence, and in some cases Income Protection cover.

We are committed to ensuring that access to protection is as inclusive as possible and see these improvements as a step in the right direction, and reflective of the medical advances for those living with HIV.
